– Activities report of the organization 2013-2014
During the year ended on 31st March, 2014, this samity did not get any assistance from the Govt. and/or private agencies. It had to depend on its own resources collected from the people at large. Accordingly the society was all along suffering from shortage of fund. In spite of such chronic shortage of fund the samity could engage itself only in the following spheres of activities
Activities 2013-14, - A Resume
Social Development Programme:
Although we had introduced of socio economic development we did not ignore the necessity of the people for improvement in other infrastructural spheres like village road repairing, health camp and other welfare activities. The total expenditure for Social development programme amounts to Rs73948/- only and it’s the break up are as follows:
Village Road Repairing:
For the last few years we are carrying on some road repairing at Jibantala Village. The people of this village are socio-economically very backward. The village roads are mostly kacha and in rainy season they become muddy and inaccessible. The mission therefore reconstructed some part of the main road laying bricks and mortar. The people volunteered to labour. We only provided bricks and mortar, our total expenditure on this account amounted to Rs. 11348/- only.
Health Awareness Camp.
Considering the socio-economic backwardness of Jibantala Block in South 24 Parganas, the mission had adopted it as one of its target arears, with a view to improve the quality of living of the people of this block. The Samity had held several awareness programmes for these people for successful implementation of various development schemes.
Health of the people being considered the vital factor of development, we had held three camps on different issues on health care to make the people aware of both preventive and curative measures. Of these three camps one was held on General Health care and the other two were on Cancer Awareness and AIDS Awareness. Total expenditure incurred on this account amounted to Rs. 16935/- only.
Blood Donation Camp:
We had held a Blood Donation Camp programme we held a camp of one day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on 27.05.2013. About 55 people had attended the camp. The local physicians attended as the guest speakers and discussed the necessity of becoming careful of the disease. They advised that though the disease is deadly and there are hardly any preventive measures available yet it detected in time some sort of remedial actions can be taken in some type of cancer. So not to neglect the disease. Our expenditure on this programme was Rs. 20157/- only.
TB and Malaria Awareness Camp:
Next to TB and Malaria is occupying much importance due to its grave danger to human life. The spread of the disease is not only limited to the urban areas, its denger has panetrated in the rural lives also. We therefore held a one day camp on this deadly desease on 9.11.2013 to make the people aware of its danger. The local health workers and physician guest speakers all elaborated the preventive measures of protecting oneself from the disease. Expenditure on this programme amounted to Rs. 15987/- only.
Teacher’s Training:
The Samity is running a free primary school for the poor children of scheduled castes and scheduled tribes with help of volunteer teachers. These teachers were given lessons in teaching practices and methods by trained and experienced teachers with a view to improve their teaching efficiency. A sum of Rs. 67600/- only has been spent on this head
Cloth & Blanket Distribution:
This year the Samity has done relief works to the poorest aged men and women by free distribution of cloth & blanket distributed 55 old male and 55 nos. old women in the local area.
Book Distribution:
The organization has encouraged 12 nos. poor but meritorious school students by free distribution of text books for their further continuation of school studies in the local area. All the expenses incurred by the donation fund of the Samity. A sum of Rs. 5100/- only has been spent on this head
Helps to the poor:
During the year 19 nos. of needy persons are financially helped in their daughter’s marriage affairs, to which the samity has saved and rescued those poor persons in the locality from the victims of cut throat money lenders. The expenses incurred from the donation fund of the samity. A sum of Rs. 10167/- only has been spent on this head
Cultural Programme :
Like previous year the mission had held a cultural programme of musical soiree and dance near its registered office at Vill+PO: Mallick Kati, Jibantala Pin: 743502 PS:Canning Dist:24PGS(S),West Bengal. The programme was very popular and a sum of Rs. 9554/- only was spent for this. The mission had however collected a sum of Rs. 59620/- from its different well wishers.
Seminar and Workshop:
While attending to large general issue and problems of the society the mission did not neglect the minor local problem. The Samity had held one seminar each on environment awareness, Arsenic Protection, The total expenditure in each of those seminars’ was Rs. 15274/-, Rs. 12784, -only respectively. The samity also held a workship for cleaning local pond as a part of environment awareness programme and local public health. A sum of Rs. 14209/- was spent for this purpose and local youth had volunteered to render their labour for clearning the water hyacinth. The samity also held several public meeting on communal harmony at different villages.
Relief Work:
Samity had made programme for giving some sort of practical training to the Young village people on handling the disaster arising from flood and other natural calamities and about 25 young men were trained up in this discipline.
